CONTROLS

MENU

• START = accept/confirm
• B = cancel/back
• D-PAD = change option
• STICK = change colour

GAMEPLAY

• A = accelerate
• B = brake/reverse
• D-PAD = steer
• STICK = steer

DRIVING

• Accurate driving model physics with momentum
• Each car has unique handling and speed stats
• Turning is sharper at lower speeds
• Reverse is useful!

POWER-UPS

• MAGNET (7s) attracts nearby coins
• GHOST (7s) pass through other cars
• SHIELD (5s) protects from collisions & stuns
• BOOST (3s) increases max speed & accel
• THUNDER (instant) stuns & shrinks other players
• SHROOM (instant) small immediate speed boost
• OIL (instant) causes spinouts—avoid!

• 100% Lua using ANTIRUINS Engine
• Initial test version ~700 loc
• Game Jam release version ~3900 loc
• Pre-rendered car sprites
• Palette-based graphics to fit lots into VRAM
• ~2000 frames of animation per car
  
• Modular so new game modes can be added easily
• In colour with transparency and scaling
• Sprite sorting so crashes look more convincing
• Screen wrap with sprite draw edge wrap
• No loading after the menu appears
• Sit back and watch the CPU play itself
• Silky smooth 60fps
